Eligibility - over the age of 21, 5 points or less on your licence and held licence for more than 3 years.

You'll need a DBS check at this point and you will need to create an account on the .gov website
Courses start from £999! We offer a range of different training solutions to meet your requirements. We are set up by instructors, for instructors.
We will support you in revising for your theory test. The test costs £81. Once passed you need to pass the other tests within 2 years or start the process again.
What happens during the test? An eyesight check, ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions, general driving ability, manoeuvres and independent driving. It costs £111.
If you’ve passed ADI part 2 you have the option to apply for a 6 month trainee licence to get experience teaching students. A trainee instructor licence costs £140.
You’ll be marked on 17 areas of competence that are grouped into 3 categories: lesson planning risk management, teaching and learning strategies. The test costs £111.
Once you have passed all the tests you must register as an ADI within 12 months. This costs £300 - you can join Road Guru as start charging for lessons.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need before I become a driving instructor?
You need a full UK driving license for 3+ years.
Have 5 points or less, on your driving license.
You must be able to read a number plate from 90 feet away (you’re allowed to wear glasses/contact lenses for this).
You must pass a DBS check.
To legally qualify as a Driving Instructor, you must also be able to register as a PDI and obtain a 'Personal Reference Number' - PRN.
I work full time, can I still become an instructor?
We offer a 'earn as you learn' training programme. Also you are able to hold a full time job whilst you train, we work around you - we offer intensive courses which means you can complete Part 2 & 3 training within 10 days. Part 1 training can be completed at home with the support of a trainer.
How much does it cost?

Can I use my own vehicle?
Yes, but we have standards for the vehicle. It must not be older than 6 years, no damage and no faults so you spend more time on the road. We can support you in getting a new vehicle of your choice.
